Shoe Ads

These products are shoes. On is Converse, the other is Vans. Converse are meant for more relaxed, laid back teenagers. Vans are meant for skater more active teenagers. The way these ads caught my eye was the Vans you could tell were skater and the writing gives it more of an edge and a texture of chill. The Converse have a more sharp appeal that everyone wants, even the gum. I think that what else is being sold if freedom, other than the gum these shoes give you the chance to go places. They're very chill, relaxing shoes and they make a look in different ways. It's a way to be casual and to be yourself just giving some edge or style. It's a way to let loose and relax and have some fun.

  1. You said it well w/ this line, "what else is being sold is freedom, ...these shoes give you the chance to go places."

I think that mythical American lure to "go places" is deeply immersed in our psyches and advertisers know that and are smart to use it to sell products. Including shoes. Nice analysis.
